After 36 years of coaching, El Paso Austin girls soccer coach Martha Celaya will now venture into retirement. That doesn't mean she is done with sports, but maybe now she can just sit back and enjoy them.

GSOC: Marcus coach takes Allen job

Lewisville Marcus girls soccer coach Kevin Albury has been hired for the same position at Allen.

“I don’t want to be an assistant principal or an administrator, I want to coach soccer,” Albury said. “So when I saw that the Allen job was available, it’s one of those big jobs that you just have to take a look at.

Albury has been a coach at Marcus for 16 years, the past nine of which were spent with the Lady Marauders.

San Antonion Churchill assistant Jennifer Aguilar was promoted to head girls coach. Outgoing coach Erin Braun resigned to be a stay-at-home mother.

GSOC: Denison coach steps down

Denision girls soccer coach Robert Lay is stepping down to focus on football.

Lay will remain as a football assistant and go back to assisting with boys soccer after Caleb Smith stepped down to pursue his master's degree. Girls assistant Jenny Cruz will be taking a similar position at Frisco Wakeland.

Denton Guyer hired Keller Fossil Ridge's Kenny Belvins as its new girls soccer coach. Former coach Marc Cox resigned with one game left in the regular season and Kristin Wilhelmson led the program through the playoffs.

SOC: Boerne Champion plans to take it all in 2011

As “We are the Champions” blared over the speakers and Richardson Pearce celebrated its second straight Class 4A girls state soccer title Saturday at Birkelbach Field, Boerne Champion's Dee Arellano simply couldn't contain herself.

Reminded following Saturday's 3-0 loss that the Chargers reached the state semifinals and state finals in their first two varsity seasons, she unleashed a salvo to the rest of the 4A soccer-playing world.

“Next year, we're going to take it all,” said Arellano, a junior midfielder.
