After two years as a Seguin girls basketball assistant, Matt Smith was selected to replace Kevin Lewis, who left for Round Rock Cedar Ridge.

College Station A&M Consolidated girls basketball coach Karen Heintz's first staff with the Lady Tigers includes Lori Shead, who will bring her three daughters who helped Bryan Rudder reach the regional semifinals last season.

GBK: Mesquite ISD hires new coaches

Girls Basketball

Mesquite ISD made several girls basketball coaching changes for 2010-11 school year. Houston Cypress Ridge girls basketball coach Darrin Samuels will be the coach at West Mesquite, replacing Howard York. Donna Capps, the former coach at UT-Arlington, will be the coach at Mesquite Horn, replacing Christina Bradford. Rick Westfall, an assistant at Mesquite last year, is replacing Mike Hall at Mesquite Poteet.

Sherman girls basketball coach David Kaniatobe is heading back to Howe. Kaniatobe will serve as head coach for cross country and track at Howe and also assist with varsity basketball.

Del Rio girls basketball coach Steven “Bric” Turner tendered his resignation Tuesday and said he had accepted the girls basketball coaching job at Class 1A Tahoka.

Sherman girls basketball coach Allan Pope is the new girls coordinator and girls basketball coach at Jacksonville.  Pope takes over for Jason Crow who resigned to become the principal at Kennard High School.
